Newest Multimillionaire in Bay Area!

SACRAMENTO – “I just felt lucky that day!” That’s all Manjit Mahe could think of trying how to explain why on the very first time he claims he played a California Lottery Scratchers® game, he won a staggering $2 million!

Mahe decided to try his luck with a $20 Crossword Deluxe Scratchers, and wouldn’t you know – he uncovered the 10 words needed to win the game’s top prize of $2 million! “I just felt a little lucky. Just bought the ticket and sure enough, it was a winner!” Mahe explained. “I was shocked, and I couldn’t believe it!”

Mahe purchased his lucky ticket at Raja Liquor & Grocery, which is located at 4068 East Avenue in Livermore (Alameda County). This business won as well, because it received a $10,000 retailer bonus just for selling the winning ticket! (The retailer bonus is not subtracted from the winner’s jackpot prize.)

As for what he plans on doing with his newfound fortune, Mahe isn’t saying too much – yet! “I don’t really have any plans right now, but in the future, maybe!”

Manjit Mahe agreed to share some of his story but declined any potential requests for media interviews or to take a winner photo. No additional information about him can be released.

The winning doesn’t stop here! All California Lottery Scratchers come with a second chance to win another great prize of up to $25,000 during our weekly draw. Just subscribe to our 2nd Chance Program and submit any non-winning Scratchers ticket code for a chance to win.

This is all part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and earn more money for California public education.

The California Lottery is a $6 billion enterprise based in Sacramento. It is one of the few state agencies that is a revenue generator, not accepting taxpayer dollars from the State’s General Fund. Its mission is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. In FY 2016-17, the Lottery created 83 new millionaires. Ninety-five cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation. The California Lottery urges its customers to play responsibly and within their budgets. If you feel you have a gambling problem, or know someone who does, you can get help at 1-800-GAMBLER.
